About the Artisans:
Handwoven in Nairai Island, a small outer island community within the Lomaiviti Group of islands in Fiji. This region is well-known for its highly skilled weaving. Historically, a voyaging region, many community members intermarried with people from other island nations, further enriching the island’s community with skilled artisans. Today, artisans preserve their traditional knowledge of weaving and patterning by producing handwoven mats.
