About the Artisans & Production Process:
Upper mountain and coastal partner communities produce handwoven pandanus small mats. These small mats can be rolled and easily transported on horseback or bundled together for transport by boat. Upon arrival to our office, the small mats are cut to size for clutches the other accessories. Through the production of pandanus small mats, women can produce them on an ongoing basis which is less time intensive than larger mats. This also provides an opportunity to beginning and mid-skill weavers to access a market for their handwork.
Our Studio Print Collection is screen-printed by hand at our office by a team of master and apprentice printers. This provides professional job training opportunities to youth from our rural partner communities, including persons with disabilities.
