About the Artisans & Production Process:
Upper mountain and coastal partner communities produce hand-woven pandanus small mats. These small mats can be rolled and easily transported on horseback or bundled together for transport by boat. Upon arrival at our office, the small mats are cut to size for clutches and other small accessories. Women can produce pandanus small mats on an ongoing basis, which is less time-intensive than making larger mats. This also provides an opportunity for beginning and mid-skill weavers to access a market for their handwork.
Our Studio Print Collection is hand-screenprinted at our office by a team of master and apprentice printers. This provides professional job training opportunities to youth from our rural partner communities, including persons with disabilities.
